Moonlight Woman: Sarah wades silhouetted into a moonlit pond scattered with lily pads at night

Moonlight Woman

directed by Griet Elsen

Sarah has learned to make a life with Willem look beautiful: each garment smoothed, each gesture carefully rehearsed. But when a strange sound enters the night, it awakens something she can no longer fold away. Drawn from their warm house into the dark forest, Sarah follows its call to a moonlit lake, where silver light turns to gold and desire rises from the depths. As her bond with Willem slips out of reach, she is pulled ever closer to a self that refuses to remain submerged.

Moonlight Woman is a fiction short directed by Griet Elsen, in which Sarah’s carefully ordered life with Willem begins to come undone when a mysterious sound calls her into the night. Drawn through the forest to a moonlit lake, she encounters a sensual, wordless desire rising from the depths. The cinematography follows her transformation through the contrast between domestic warmth and the wild, golden darkness beyond it.
