Anna is a chamber piece told across a single night: a woman is confronted by a stranger’s attack, and the film stays with her through the fear it leaves behind and the unexpected confidence she finds on the other side of it. Director Robin Hendrix keeps the story close to lead actress Shauni Goetz, and the cinematography follows that intimacy. Darkness is allowed to stay dark, faces surface out of the night, and the camera holds near enough to read the smallest shift in her resolve. Photographed by Victor Maes in some of the most stripped-back night work on this site.
